EDMONTON – A 70-year-old man is dead after crashing his plane in a field near Sylvan Lake.

Mike Paul Chysyk of Saskatoon died on scene. He was the only person on board the single-engine, two-seater plane.

It happened around 1:30 p.m. Saturday, about 15 kilometres west of Sylvan Lake.

Chysyk was the owner of the aircraft which was registered out of Saskatoon.

There’s no word on what caused the crash.

Sylvan Lake RCMP along with the Alberta Transportation Safety Board continue to investigate.
