MONTREAL – One person is dead after after they were trapped in a fiery single-vehicle crash overnight in Charlemagne, northeast of Montreal.

The incident occurred shortly after midnight on Sunday when the driver lost control of the vehicle on Céline-Dion Boulevard near Notre-Dame Street.

The car veered off the road and crashed near a building before exploding into flames.

Emergency crews were unable to save the driver who was trapped inside the vehicle.
