A missing persons case has taken a tragic turn near Claresholm. Police discovered the bodies of a father and his son.
Mounties were called Thursday to reports of a missing person; the 85-year-old rancher was last seen on May 11. Investigators said he was known to use an ATV to check on his livestock.
Police, firefighters and search and rescue personnel went to the property, about 15 kilometres southwest of the town, and began a search.

The missing man’s son joined the search and set out on his own on foot.
Early Friday morning, the 50-year-old was found dead by the search team. It’s believed he died because of a medical event.
Then, just after daybreak on Friday, the missing father was also found dead by first responders on another part of the property. It’s believed he died of natural causes.
The medical examiner has been called in to determine the exact causes of death.
Officials have not released the men’s names.
Claresholm is about 130 kilometres south of Calgary.
