Saskatoon would be divided into three urban federal ridings under a proposed redraw of Saskatchewan’s federal ridings.
The new electoral map was released by the Federal Electoral Boundaries Commission today.
Under the proposal, Regina would have two exclusive electoral districts.
The remaining seven ridings would be primarily rural.
“In the past, both Regina and Saskatoon were designated as single electoral districts within their city boundaries,” said the Honourable Ronald Mills, chair of the commission.

“The major difference now is that with a much greater share of the province’s population in those cities, the number of entirely urban districts has reached an historic high.”
The proposed changes take into account the population increase since 2001 along with movement within the province.
Saskatoon would be divided into Saskatoon West, Saskatoon Centre-University and Saskatoon-Grasswood.
The area around the city would become Kindersley-Rosetown-Humboldt and stretch to the Alberta border.

Fort Qu’Appelle, Treaty Four Governance Centre, 740 Sioux Avenue South, Thursday, September 20, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
North Battleford, Don Ross Centre, Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at 10:00 a.m.
Prince Albert, Carlton Comprehensive High School, Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at 10:00 a.m.
Tisdale RECplex, Thursday, October 4, 2012 at 10:00 a.m.
