Police investigating robbery of Dartmouth credit union

Halifax Regional Police are on the scene of a robbery at the East Coast Credit Union on Ochterloney Street in Dartmouth.

Police say a man went into the credit union just before 11 a.m. Tuesday, gave a note to a teller and told her he had a weapon. The suspect ran from the bank with an unknown amount of money.

Officers say the witness didn’t report seeing a weapon.

Police tape surrounds the credit union and officers as well as the K-9 unit are on scene as part of the investigation.

Officers and the K-9 unit tried to locate the suspect but couldn’t.

The suspect is described as being in his mid-20s or early 30s, about 5’10” with a thin build with long hair pulled back into a ponytail and no facial hair.

He was wearing a black ball cap, a white shirt under a grey shirt, a black jacket and jeans.
