Winnipeg Blue Bombers LB Maurice Leggett honoured following two interception game

WINNIPEG – Winnipeg Blue Bombers (1-2) linebacker Maurice Leggett was named a Shaw CFL Top Performer thanks to a strong defensive performance in his team’s first win of the season.

Leggett had two interceptions in Winnipeg’s 28-24 victory over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats including one he returned 50 yards for a touchdown. The feat marked the American’s second multi-interception game of his three year CFL career. Leggett currently leads the league with two picks in three games.

The 29-year-old also recorded five defensive tackles and a sack against the Tiger-Cats.

Ottawa Redblacks wide receiver Chris Williams and Edmonton Eskimos slotback Adarius Bowman round out last week’s Shaw CFL Top Performers.

The Bombers host the Edmonton Eskimos (1-1) at Investors Group Field on Thursday.
