Is he or isn’t he? New DNA evidence says ‘Diefenbaby’ related to late prime minister

George Dryden believes he finally has proof to show he is the son of former prime minister John Diefenbaker. 

In an exclusive interview with Maclean’s magazine, Dryden says DNA samples from a discarded Q-Tip from a distant relative indentified a genetic overlap pointing to a common ancestry.

Correspondent Charles Gillis says this new evidence doesn’t definitely prove 43-year-old Dryden is the son of Diefenbaker. 

He does believe it is persuasive evidence to back Dryden’s claim. 

“This makes me a lot more inclined to believe that he is the son of John Diefenbaker,” said Gillis. 

“I don’t know how much he can do with the new information except show it to the world and say you know you can’t dismiss me out of hand.”
