Man dies after single-vehicle crash in northern Alberta

RCMP are investigating the cause of a single-vehicle collision that claimed the life a man in northern Alberta Friday morning.

Investigators believe the victim was in a pick-up truck, along with another man, 52 kilometres south of Slave Lake when the truck went into a ditch and hit a guard rail at around 2:20 a.m. The vehicle then rolled down an embankment.

RCMP said both men were able to get out of the truck before it became engulfed in flames, but one of the men died from his injuries at the scene.

The other man was airlifted to hospital by STARS Air Ambulance.

The identity of the victim hasn’t been released.

There is no word on what caused the fatal collision.
