Winnipeg’s furry friends are asking for a little leg up from some kind strangers

WINNIPEG — Over 250 cats jam packed in to a very small adoption centre are asking for the Winnipeg communities help this summer.

The Craig Street Cats Adoption Centre is being forced to turn away dozens of cats every day and the Executive Director said it’s because the well of donations has run dry.

Banksy the kitty is the newest little addition to the Craig Street Cats community, but her and her friends are struggling to eat and get proper health care daily.

“People go away on holidays, they tend to be focused on having fun on their vacation and are not necessarily thinking about contributing to a cat rescue. But, it’s our time of greatest need,” said Executive Director of Craig Street Cats, Lynne Scott.

Scott said she gets calls everyday for 40 or 50 cats that she can’t care for.

Right now she said the adoption centre has cats of all ages, sizes, and needs. And they’re running short on just about everything.

“We have a shortage of canned food, dry food. We also have a shortage of money to provide veterinary care,” said Scott.
