The BC Coroners Service has now identified two men who died while on vacation on Salt Spring Island last week.
Masashi Shintani and Ryo Yamaguchi, both 25 and originally from Japan, went swimming with a friend at Weston Lake last Tuesday.

They were trying to reach a wharf but didn’t make it to the other side.
The two men were rescued from the water and transported to hospital but could not be resuscitated.
