A man is facing impaired driving causing death and dangerous driving charges after his vehicle crashed into a lamp post, killing a 28-year-old male passenger.

Emergency crews were called to Mount Pleasant Road near Roxborough Street East near Roxborough Drive before 2:30 a.m. Monday after a 2004 Mazda travelling northbound lost control.

The passenger died at the scene.

The man driving the vehicle and two passengers were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Warren Ferns, 24, of Toronto has been charged with impaired driving causing death, dangerous driving causing death and criminal negligence causing death.

He was scheduled to appear in a Toronto court Monday.
