VANCOUVER – It has been one year since the Occupy Vancouver encampment began.

Last night, a small group turned up outside the Vancouver Art Gallery to mark the anniversary.

The Occupy movement first started in the financial district of New York City, protesting economic inequality, political corruption and environmental destruction.

It later spread to more than 900 cities around the world.

The Vancouver ‘occupation’ centered on a tent city at West Georgia and Howe and lasted more than a month, with the last tents being taken down on November 22.
