The Kelowna Fire Department had to rescue two hikers and their dog after the trio fell into a deep ravine Sunday.

The incident happened in Mill Creek Regional Park northeast of the Kelowna Airport.

Firefighters had to lower a rescue rope to get the couple and their dog out of the ravine.

“After talking with the member on scene the Kelowna Fire Department mobilized our Technical Rope Rescue team,” said platoon captain Tim Light.

“The Central Okanagan Search and Rescue were onsite to do an initial search and initiate patient contact as well as assist with the extraction,” he said.

Light said the hikers and their dog were not injured and is reminding hikers to let someone know where you’re going when venturing into remote areas.
