Vancouver police have arrested three suspects who have been allegedly burglarizing newly built houses.
Police had been alerted to many incidents in and around Vancouver involving the theft of brand new appliances from these homes, which led investigators to a person of interest.
That suspect was was spotted on Saturday afternoon, dressed in a utility repair uniform, parking a van near a home near Rupert Street and Vanness Avenue. The suspect, along with a second man, then broke into the home and emerged with a dishwasher, officers allege.

The duo left the scene and later met with a third man, during which time the dishwasher was transferred to the third man’s vehicle. Police then stopped both vehicles and apprehended all three suspects, who have been identified as a 29-year-old from Coquitlam, a 26-year-old from New Westminster, and a 27-year-old from Vancouver.
Investigators are recommending charges of break and enter and possession of stolen property.
Police are warning the public that houses under construction are a hot target for thieves, who are on the lookout for construction materials, tools, and appliances to sell off.
