Toronto police looking to speak with driver who helped stop sexual assault

Toronto police say they want to speak with a driver who interrupted a sexual assault in progress in the Wychwood neighbourhood.

Police said they were called to the Christie and Dupont streets area just before 3:10 a.m. Sunday after a man standing under the CN Rail bridge tried to grab a 28-year-old woman’s purse.

The man covered the woman’s mouth after she screamed and he then allegedly sexually assaulted her before stealing her purse.

A driver who saw the incident flashed their high-beam lights prompting the man to release the woman.

Police are looking for a male suspect. Investigators want to speak with the driver of the car who witnessed the incident.
