One person is dead following a crash at the junction of two Saskatchewan highways.

The crash between a car and a pickup truck happened Monday afternoon at the intersection of highways 9 and 15 south of Yorkton, Sask.

The driver of the car, a 51-year-old man, was declared dead at the scene. His name has not been released.

The driver of the pickup truck, a 21-year-old man, was taken to hospital with undisclosed injuries. He has since been released.

The intersection was closed for several hours while a RCMP collision re-constructionist investigated.

Police continue to investigate and are asking anyone who witnessed the fatal crash to contact Melville RCMP at 306-728-1700.
