RCMP say a woman found dead after a house fire in Val-d’Amour, N.B. on Saturday was the victim of a homicide, and the fire was deliberately set.
Police have identified the victim as 71-year-old Lucille Maltais, who lived in the home.

Campbellton RCMP officers were called on Saturday after firefighters found the body in the home on rue Melanson.
An investigation by New Brunswick’s Major Crime Unit led police to believe her death was a homicide, and the fire was the result of arson.

Police are asking anyone with information that could help with the investigation to call Campbellton RCMP at 506-789-6000, or anonymously through Crime Stoppers online or at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
