Edmonton police charge 21-year-old man with 2nd-degree murder in Fox Drive stabbing

Police have charged a 21-year-old man in connection with the fatal stabbing of a teen in Edmonton’s south side over the weekend.

On Wednesday, police said Connor James Miller had been charged with second-degree murder, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assaulting a peace officer and resisting arrest.

At around 8:30 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to a “trouble not known” call at the Alfred H. Savage Centre near Fox Drive where they found the body of 19-year-old Christopher Fawcett.

An autopsy later confirmed Fawcett died of stab wounds.

Police said they believe Miller and Fawcett – whom they said knew one another – got into a fight before Fawcett was killed.

The stabbing is Edmonton’s 36th homicide of the year, according to police.
