$262K in drugs, $100K in stolen items seized from rural Bon Accord home

Two people from northwest of Edmonton are facing theft and trafficking charges after a large amount of drugs and stolen property were seized from a rural home.

Last Thursday, Nov. 3, members of the Spruce Grove/Stony Plain RCMP’s serious crimes unit, along with officers from Morinville RCMP, executed a drug search warrant at a rural residence near Bon Accord.

During the search police found large quantities of methamphetamine, cocaine and GHB. Police said the street value of the drugs is estimated at $262,000. A stolen handgun and other weapons such as tasers, brass knuckles and crossbows were found as well.

Police also found a large amount of stolen items while at the property, so they obtained a second search warrant that allowed them to seize items.

An estimated $100,000 in stolen property was recovered. Some of the items seized included two trucks, three enclosed trailers, a holiday trailer, a motorbike and a Honda generator.

Misty Payne, 39, and Darcy Payne, 42, of Sturgeon County are both facing several charges, including possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, unsafe storage of a firearm, and possession of stolen property, as well as numerous breaches of court orders.

Darcy Payne was released from custody on $20,000 cash bail and ordered to remain under house arrest. Misty Payne was released from custody on $3,000 cash bail with numerous conditions. Both are scheduled to appear at Morinville Provincial Court on Nov. 17.

Police said a third person was found on the property and was arrested on the strength of outstanding warrants. Kiel Schreiner, 33, was charged with one count of Possession of a Prohibited Weapon. He is scheduled to appear in court in Morinville on Jan. 19, 2017.
