Nearly $24K raised for mother of Nia Eastman in Sask. Amber Alert case

The support for the mother of seven-year-old Nia Eastman, who was found dead in a northeastern Saskatchewan community keeps building.

A crowdfunding page was set up by a family friend on Thursday and by Friday it had surpassed its $5,000 goal.

As of Sunday afternoon, it had reached nearly $24,000.

An Amber Alert was issued early Thursday morning after Eastman was not returned to her mother Wednesday evening by her estranged husband.

Adam Jay Eastman was found dead from self-inflicted wounds on a rural property east of Smeaton.

Hours later, the girl’s body was discovered in a house in the small community of Choiceland, approximately 240 kilometres northeast of Saskatoon.
