It’s not just people getting into the holiday spirit this time of year.

The annual Christmas Pet Parade was held Saturday afternoon along Quinpool Road in Halifax.

Organizers say it’s considered one of the most coveted events in the area and a way to kick off the holidays.

The pet parade continues to get bigger, with more than 30 dogs taking part this year.

Most of the parade participants were all decked out in their best Christmas attire.

Organizers say one of the neat things about this event is that they see the same owners and their furry companions year after year.

“Quinpool Road is really known to be a dog-loving street,” said Karla Nicholson, executive director of the Quinpool Road Mainstreet District Association.

“We already have a paws here initiative where we welcome dogs into our businesses, we put dog bowls out for them, so people love Quinpool Road and they love their dogs.”

It’s believed this type of pet parade isn’t done anywhere else.
