U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has tabbed Exxon Mobil Corp chief executive officer Rex Tillerson to be his next Secretary of State, NBC News reported Saturday.
After the pair met Tuesday, Trump had reportedly sat down with Tillerson again Saturday.
Exxon Mobil has operations in more than 50 countries and boasts that it explores for oil and natural gas on six continents which could create questions surrounding the potential nomination.

Exxon Mobil also has ties to Russia as it has 10 joint ventures with Rosneft, Russia’s largest state-owned oil company.

Tillerson also received the Order of Friendship from Russsian president Vladimir Putin in 2013.
Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani and 2012 Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney both met with Trump twice to discuss the opening but the former formally withdrew from consideration Friday.
Other names said to be under consideration were John Bolton, a former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations; U.S. Senator Bob Corker of Tennessee, and retired Navy Admiral James Stavridis.
