Province opens bidding for new private liquor stores in Saskatoon, Regina

SASKATOON – The Saskatchewan government has released the request for proposal document for three proposed private liquor stores in the province.

Two of those will be in Saskatoon with the other in Regina.

“Since announcing these new private stores, there’s been significant interest from prospective operators,” said Donna Harpauer, the minister responsible for Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority.

The RFP outlines the application process and operating details for the new stores.

Although the government is looking at growing neighbourhoods as locations for the new stores, applicants can submit their own best location.

The deadline for submitting the RFP, which is being conducted by Deloitte, is Jan. 30, 2013.

Submissions will then be evaluated on the business plan, site proposal, financial capacity, business qualifications and project schedule.
