N.B. crime strategy to focus on at-risk youth, repeat offenders

FREDERICTON – The New Brunswick government has launched a crime prevention and reduction strategy.

Premier David Alward says a roundtable of police and community groups will suggest different programs and study what works best.

The strategy will focus on youth at risk, chronic repeat offenders and domestic violence.

Acting Fredericton Police Chief Leanne Fitch says she believes the approach will lead to a more coordinated approach across the province that can reduce crime.

She says there are many opportunities to intervene with young people.
