Toronto man accused of sexually assaulting two women downtown within a half-hour period

Toronto police have charged a man accused of sexually assaulting two women within a half-hour period on Friday.

Officers responded to Shuter and Bond streets, near Church Street, around 10 p.m.

Police say a woman, 27, was approached by a man while walking on Shuter Street. The man allegedly sexually assaulted her and then ran away.

About half an hour earlier, police say a woman, 41, was waiting to cross the road while standing on Shuter Street.

A man had allegedly approached the second woman from behind, sexually assaulted her, and then fled when confronted by the woman.

Police say Ahmed Omar, 27, of Toronto was arrested on Friday and charged with two counts of sexual assault.

He made a court appearance Saturday morning.
