A neurological and psychological assessment has been ordered for the teen girl accused of killing six-week-old Nikosis Jace Cantre.
The youth, who was 16 at the time of the infant’s death, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in a Saskatoon courtroom in October.

Cantre died in hospital on July 3, 2016 after being found with injuries in a Waterloo Crescent home.

The teen had escaped from Kilburn Hall Youth Centre the day before Cantre’s death. In March, she was given a 120-day sentence for fleeing an open custody facility.
Due to the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the name of the accused cannot be published.

A sentencing hearing is scheduled to begin June 6.
The Crown previously expressed intentions to seek an adult sentence.
