Emissions reduction technology developed in Hamilton receives federal funding

The federal government is investing up to $400,000 in Hamilton-developed technology, which is expected to significantly reduce vehicle emissions.

Hamilton West-Ancaster-Dundas Liberal MP Filomena Tassi made the announcement on Friday afternoon at the McMaster Automotive Resource Centre.

The funding supports Advanced Technology Emission Solutions Inc, which aims to commercialize its Smart Induction Catalyst Technology.

ATES President and CEO Anthony Hardenne notes that they’ve developed technology that can reduce emissions by up to 40 per cent by rapidly heating a vehicle’s catalytic converter, allowing it to operate more effectively.

Once commercialized, Hardenne is confident their technology “will contribute to a cleaner environment” by “enabling automakers to achieve their goals of producing zero-emission vehicles.”

Tassi adds that the program is being funded through FedDev Ontario’s Investing in Business Innovation Initiative.
