Injured man found in downtown Calgary taken to hospital by EMS

Calgary EMS said a man found suffering from serious head and facial injuries in the downtown core was rushed to hospital on Tuesday.

Two officers on patrol discovered the victim, in his early 30s, unconscious near the intersection of 8 Avenue and 9 Street S.W. at around 4 a.m.

In a Tuesday news release, police said it’s believed he was hit over the back of the head with a hard object.

EMS transported him to the Foothills Medical Centre in serious but stable condition.

Calgary police believe the victim is one of three injured during a series of unprovoked and unrelated attacks in the downtown core. They’re now looking to the public for help identifying a suspect.
