Two suspicious packages that forced police to shut down Main Street in East Hamilton for hours were not that suspicious at all.
The Hamilton police Explosive Detection Unit detonated both packages that were found in mailboxes on Friday morning at around 11:30 a.m.

A package found on Huxley Avenue was detonated at about 5:00 p.m. and the Cameron Street package was detonated at about 9:30 p.m.
Investigators have determined that neither of them contained an explosive.
Police say the person responsible for mailing both packages has been identified and no criminal charges will be laid and there is no risk to public safety.
Officers had closed Main Street from the Queenston Traffic Circle to Ottawa Street North until about 11:00 p.m. Friday.
