A group of three off-duty police officers at a Liverpool, N.S., resort stopped a man they say was passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle.
According to police, RCMP from the Queens District began to receive reports of a hit-and-run driver who was possibly impaired.

Their investigation determined that a green Chevy Cavalier was driving erratically on Highway 3 in the Hunt’s Point area. It eventually crossed the centre line, side swiped an oncoming vehicle and caused minor damage. It then continued to a resort complex in the area.

The off-duty officers, from the RCMP, Waterloo Regional Police Service and an auxiliary police constable from Toronto Police Services, saw the still-moving vehicle.

One of the officers was able to enter the vehicle while it was in motion and put it into park. The three men then arrested the driver.
The 46-year-old man from Liverpool now faces five charges in relation to the incident including:
- Impaired operation of a motor vehicle
- Operating a motor vehicle with blood alcohol content in excess of 80 mg%
- Failing to remain at the scene of a collision
- Driving with a revoked license
- Driving without insurance
The man is scheduled to appear in Bridgewater Provincial Court in September.
