The Extra Kicks Soccer minor soccer program in Kingston has been a huge success, thanks to the Kingston Clippers soccer club.

As part of their mandate to teach the sport of soccer to Kingston residents of all ages, the Clippers have been running the Extra Kicks program every Thursday night at Richardson Stadium.

Head coach Caitlin Barton says the program is an opportunity to teach kids the love of the game and “work on the necessary skills to make them a better player.”

The program is free of charge and hundreds of boys and girls have taken advantage of the initiative over the years.

12-year-old Tristan White says he needed to work on his dribbling and getting around players, and notes the extra practice has helped him do just that.

Barton notes the program fosters a supportive atmosphere all players seem to enjoy.
