A Red Deer man has pleaded guilty to the murders of two women, two years apart, dating back to a decade ago.
In June 2007, the body of Jeanette Chief, 48, was found in a river near Lloydminster. The city straddles the Alberta-Saskatchewan border, east of Edmonton.
Then in May 2009, Violet Heathen, 49, was last seen in the Lloydminster-area. Six months later, her remains were found in a rural area near Kitscoty.

In March 2016, RCMP announced Gordon Alfred Rogers was charged with first-degree murder in the two deaths.
Alberta Justice confirms Rogers, 61, pleaded guilty on Friday to two counts of second-degree murder.
Sentencing has been set for Jan. 19.
