11 weeks ago the Hamilton Tiger-Cats were humiliated 60-1 in Calgary.  On Friday night, the Ticats suffered a much more agonizing defeat.

Rene Paredes kicked a 17 yard field goal with no time left as the Stampeders edged Hamilton 28-25.

To make matters worse, the Ticats were knocked out of the CFL playoff race when Ottawa stormed back to beat Saskatchewan 33-32 on Ryan Lindley’s one yard touchdown run with two seconds left in regulation.

It is the first time since 2012 that Hamilton will not advance to the post-season.

Paredes’ game winning field goal, his fourth of the contest, was set up by a 62 yard pass interference penalty on Tiger-Cats safety Courtney Stephen that gave Calgary the ball on the Hamilton 10.

Cats running back Alex Green scored two touchdowns, both from the one yard line, including a TD plunge that enabled Hamilton to knot the game 25-25 with 36 seconds remaining in the game.

It was set up by a pass interference call on Calgary’s Jamar Wall in the Stamps’ endzone, which put the ball at Calgary one yard line.

Jeremiah Masoli also scored on a one yard major that gave the Cats a 12-11 lead late in the first half.  But on two occasions 4-11 Hamilton went for a two-point convert instead of kicking the extra point and came away empty handed.

Paredes opened the scoring less than three minutes into the game when he missed wide left on a 36 yard field goal attempt.

59 seconds later, Calgary’s Terry Williams blocked new Ticats kicker Kenny Allen’s first punt in the CFL.  The ball was scooped up at the two yard line by Calgary’s William Langlais who scored the game’s opening touchdown.
