Miraculous discovery of car crash victim trapped for 16 hours in the south Okanagan

A member of the Anarchist Mountain Volunteer Fire Department near Osoyoos was out with his wife for a walk Sunday afternoon when they made a startling discovery.

The pair was walking along Blacktail Road near Highway 3 when they heard what they thought was a goat bleating.

The couple investigated further and discovered an overturned car and a cry for help from the driver laying nearby.

The couple called 911 and emergency crews rushed to the scene.

The victim, a man in his late 50’s or early 60’s from Trail, was trapped at the accident site for 16 hours, telling first responders that the crash occurred the night before, around 8 p.m. Saturday.

It’s believed he may have fallen asleep at the wheel.

The vehicle was not visible from the highway.

The driver was taken to hospital but there’s no word on the extent of any injuries.
