The parents of a young woman who was murdered as she worked in a busy Montreal grocery store have described their daughter as a luminous, loving and peaceful girl whose life was stolen.
Clemence Beaulieu-Patry’s parents delivered an emotional victim impact statement during sentencing arguments Wednesday morning.

Randy Tshilumba was convicted by a jury last Friday of premeditated murder in the stabbing death of Beaulieu-Patry in April 2016.
Her mother, Nathalie Beaulieu, said the verdict would allow her to mourn her 20-year-old daughter in peace.

The jurors rejected the defence’s argument the accused was not criminally responsible for his actions.
Beaulieu-Patry’s parents, Nathalie Beaulieu and Luc Patry, told the court they have trouble sleeping and haven’t worked since their 20-year-old daughter was murdered.

Quebec Superior Court Justice Helene Di Salvo will sentence Tshilumba Wednesday afternoon.

The crime carries an automatic life sentence with no chance of parole before 25 years.
