CALGARY – Street racing and alcohol appear to be factors in a deadly overnight car crash.
A marked police unit saw two cars racing southbound on 68 Street near 32 Avenue NE around 1:40am and activated their emergency equipment to stop them.

One vehicle pulled over immediately while a Honda Accord continued speeding southbound before losing control and hitting a pole at the intersection of 26 Avenue NE.
A 24-year-old passenger in the front seat of the car was killed instantly.
Three female passengers in the back of the car were transported to hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
The 21-year old male driver had minor injuries.
He refused a breathalyzer when asked by police.
Charges are pending.
