N.W.T. town of Norman Wells’ natural gas heat supply has been restored

NORMAN WELLS, N.W.T. – A community in the Northwest Territories says the supply of natural gas it depends on to heat most of its homes and other buildings has been restored.

The Town of Norman Wells declared a state of emergency Monday after the supply was cut due to a problem at an Imperial Oil (TSX:IMO) Resources facility.

People from the area said it was -49C with the windchill on Monday.

The town’s Emergency Measures Organization says it has been told that Imperial Oil is confident it can maintain the natural gas supply.

Most of the town’s 850 residents depend on natural gas to heat their homes.
