A woman has suffered life-threatening injuries after she was hit by a car while crossing the street at a crosswalk in Spryfield.
Halifax police say they responded to the collision just after 10:15 a.m. in the 560-block of Herring Cove Road on Thursday.

According to police, the woman was crossing at a marked crosswalk when she was struck by a car travelling inbound on the road.
The woman, who is in her 40s, was taken to hospital for treatment of what are believed to be life-threatening injuries.

The 18-year-old male driver of the car was arrested and is being questioned by police.
Investigators remain on scene and traffic will be shut down for the next few hours.
