Fire Stations around Guelph will be accepting donations of Toys and Gift Cards starting Friday for their annual Christmas Toy Drive Campaign, in partnership with The Salvation Army.
Donations of new and unwrapped toys for infants and children and $25 gift cards can be dropped off at Fire Stations across Guelph until December 17.
According to The Salvation Army, one in seven Canadian children live in poverty, which means each year thousands of children go to bed on Christmas Eve unsure if they will wake up with any gifts under the tree the next morning.
This is a nation-wide initiative. Last year across Canada, 262,000 people were helped by The Salvation Army at Christmas with food hampers and toys. In Guelph alone, 877 children received toys while 205 teenagers woke up to gift cards under the tree through the toy drive. While the Salvation Army fed 1,032 families with their food hamper program.

During the middle of the campaign, on November 28, is Giving Tuesday, a national movement used to encourage people to give back to their communities. This year, the Salvation Army will use this day to encourage individuals to ‘Toss a Toy for Giving Tuesday.’ On that day donations of Toys can not only be dropped off at Fire Stations across Guelph but also at Stone Road Mall, The Walmart location on Woodlawn Road and The Canadian Tire Store on Stone Road.

Businesses and charitable/volunteer groups can also get involved in the campaign by accepting a hamper at your location for either food or toy donations by contacting the Salvation Army at (519)-836-9824.

- 115 Stone Rd. West
- 21 Imperial Rd. South
- 380 Elizabeth St.
- 160 Clair Rd. West
