Guelph police handed out 200 fines during their two-week traffic enforcement campaign on Gordon Street between Clair Road and Waterloo Avenue.
Project Corridor targeted unsafe driving, cycling, and pedestrian activities along the busy stretch through Guelph between Nov. 5 and Nov. 17.

The most common offence was speeding as officers handed out 124 tickets, including fines being handed to a Guelph Transit operator and a GO Bus operator.
“Slower speeds will continue to be a factor in greater road safety and will be a point of enforcement for police as we move into the winter driving months,” police said in a news release.

Another 24 fines were handed out for disobeying traffic lights and police charged 21 people with distracted driving. There were also eight careless driving charges.
Cyclists were fined five times and pedestrians were fined four times.
Guelph police said there were nine collisions on Gordon Street during the campaign and all but one was preventable.
