Man suffers life-threatening injuries when struck by vehicle in central Edmonton

A pedestrian was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries early Wednesday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle north of downtown.

It happened just before 1 p.m. near 97 Street and 114 Avenue.

Police said the pedestrian was male but did not provide an approximate age.

The collision appears to involve a cement mixer and a motorized scooter.

Officers said road closures would be in effect and were asking drivers to stay away from the area.
