Two taken to hospital after Thursday morning assault downtown

Police are investigating a serious assault in downtown Winnipeg overnight.

Officers were called to St. Mary Avenue and Hargrave Street just after 2 a.m. Thursday.

Police told Global News the assault began inside Holiday Towers and stretched out to CityPlace.

A man in his 20’s was shot in the lower body by a woman and was sent to hospital in critical condition. He was later upgraded to stable condition.

The woman involved had suffered minor injuries. She was sent to hospital in stable condition.

The major crimes unit was on scene outside Holiday Towers and CityPlace for some time.

A male in his 20's was located suffering from a gunshot wound in the 100 block of Hargrave St early this morning. Officers applied a tourniquet to the victim. He was transported to hosptial in critical condition but has since been upgraded to stable. https://t.co/G5qHpyCwHK
