Halifax man arrested in robberies where truck used to smash storefronts

HALIFAX – Halifax police say a 36-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a string of incidents where stolen vehicles were used to break into businesses.

Paul Jason Elliot was arrested during a traffic stop in Dartmouth on Wednesday.

He appeared in court Thursday and faces several charges including three counts of breaking and entering with intent and three counts of motor vehicle theft.

The charges are in connection with three break-ins over a six-month period.

Police allege stolen trucks were used to smash storefronts in the robberies of Glubes Sound Studio in Dartmouth last September and Mighty Small Cars in Dartmouth in December.

Police say a stolen truck was also used to smash the front entrance of Platinum Pawn in Dartmouth last month, although no property was taken.
