Morning folks, today I am talking about the Sony PlayStation 4 Global launch in New York I had attended last Wednesday.
Check out the spectacular first minute of the PS4 launch, shot with Samsung’s Galaxy Camera 21X zoom at wide angle 23 mm equiv:
It was much anticipated, in fact overdue. Although the PS4 did launch, well sort of, we won’t see the console until later this year. What we did see was a new controller with interesting new tricks and a parade of well-known and established video game makers talking about and showing short clips of their next PS4 titles.
If you are not an avid gamer what this means to current console gamers is the most powerful processing and graphics player yet with faster system memory, built-in storage memory, instant-on and resume sleep mode and more. The level of detail in scenes in characters in real time is as good and better than computer generated artificial characters.

The DualShock 4 controller features a small touch pad, headphone jack, colour identifying light bar and most excitingly, a “share” button. It let’s you share a short video of your game action or let a friend take over your game and help you out if you are in a tight spot.
Sony said the PS4 is actually a new eco system with a revamped network with more smarts and features for gamers to be socially connected, download updates while in sleep mode, start playing while a game is installing, offer and automatically download games it knows you like and more. Other Sony devices like the not very successful (but impressive quality and recently discounted) PS Vita will allow for remote play of all PS4 games.
PS4 gaming companies include Capcom showing off Deep Down, Punch’s InFAMOUS: Second Son, Sucker Killzone: Shadow Fall from Guerrilla Games, Evolution Studio’s Driveclub, The Witness, from the makers of the Braid puzzle game.
Square Enix said it would have a PS4-compatible Final Fantasy to show at the big E3 spring gaming show in Los Angeles while Ubisoft showed an impressive Watch Dogs for PS4. Activision promised PS4 “multiple blockbuster titles” including Destiny from Bungie, the folks who helped propel Xbox with Halo.
Blizzard said it will have Diablo III for the PS4, PS3.

Very cool Watch Dogs from Ubisoft:
The Witness puzzle game from Braid, similar to Myst:
Sony said you will be able to play all previous console games virtually online.
In all, this was more of an unveiling and a shot across the bows of Nintendo and Microsoft’s Xbox that Sony plans a comeback.
