Two people have been rushed to a trauma centre following a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 401 in Toronto.
Ontario Provincial Police said the collision happened around 11 a.m. Monday on the eastbound express lanes at Weston Road.
Toronto paramedics said two people were transported to hospital with serious injuries. Several others suffered minor injuries, police said.
Police said the collision involved at least seven vehicles — three transport trucks, a delivery truck and three others.

“The scene is quite expansive with the multiple vehicles involved,” OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said.
Eastbound express lanes are closed at Islington Avenue for the investigation. Police said the roadway isn’t expected to reopen until between 10 p.m. and midnight.

“There are massive delays in the area in both directions because of the visual distractions and as well of course because of the delays and the closure,” Schmidt said.
