Saskatoon police charge taxi driver, fare with assault after stabbing

A taxi driver and his fare have both been charged with assault after an altercation Thursday evening.

Saskatoon police were called to the 500-block of Avenue M North just after 8:30 p.m. CT for a report of an injured man.

A 34-year-old taxi driver was found with a stab wound.

He was taken to hospital in stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery.

A 30-year-old woman was located nearby and charged with aggravated assault and breach of probation.

She will appear in Saskatoon provincial court on Friday.

Police said a review of the video from the taxi showed the woman being assaulted by the cab driver prior to him being stabbed.

He has been charged with assault and will appear in court at a later date.
