A statue of Canada’s first Prime Minister in Victoria Park was vandalized overnight.
Vandals spray painted the John A. MacDonald statue green and yellow.
On Friday, some passerby’s voiced their disgust with the vandalism.

This isn’t the first time the statue has been a target for vandalism and protest. Some groups have called MacDonald’s legacy into question over the role he played in establishing residential schools.

In August, protesters covered the statue in plastic wrap and caution tape. The group Colonialism No More also launched a petition to have the statue removed.
