Pickup truck driver airlifted to hospital after 2-vehicle crash southeast of Edmonton

The driver of a pickup truck was airlifted to hospital in Edmonton after his vehicle collided with a transport truck near Camrose on Wednesday afternoon.

The RCMP said officers were called to the scene on Highway 21, just north of Highway 616, at at 12:20 p.m.

Police did not provide details on what caused the crash but said traffic on Highway 21 was being diverted in both directions while crews cleared debris from the road. Shortly before 5 p.m., police said the highway had been reopened in both directions.

Mounties said the nature of the pickup truck driver’s injuries were “undetermined.” The driver of the transport truck was not hurt.
