The City of Hamilton says crews are still working on cleanup from the weekend’s nasty spring ice storm, with closures in effect due to flooding and erosion concerns.
Efforts to clear sidewalks and residential streets are ongoing, the city said in a statement on Monday afternoon.
The southbound off-ramp at King Street on the Red Hill Valley Parkway remains closed due to erosion concerns and some properties near Lake Ontario are experiencing flooding.
The Chedoke Rail Trail remains closed between Chedoke Golf Course and Scenic Drive entrance due to erosion and debris.

Residents are also asked to stay clear of the Waterfront Trail between the Lift Bridge and Confederation Park because of weather damage.
The city also said the Woodward Wastewater Treatment Plant has exceeded capacity due to the high water volumes, and the plant is on “bypass mode” as a result.

The storm, which knocked out power for over 100,000 across southern Ontario, delivered a wallop of high winds, ice pellets and freezing rain to the Hamilton region.

“Of course, the freezing rain was bad, but it could have been so much had we not had those ice pellets and different forms of precipitation,” he added.
On Saturday afternoon, a 58-year-old man was seriously injured after being struck by a large sign that fell down at Catharine Street South and Main Street East. Another man suffered minor injuries.
