A 37-year-old Burlington, Ont., man charged in the death of his three-year-old son who was left alone in a car last month, had his case put over until July 25.
Police were called to a report of a child found unresponsive inside a vehicle in a parking lot on North Service Road near Highway 407 around 5:30 p.m. on May 23.

Despite the efforts of paramedics, the three-year-old boy was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to Environment Canada weather statistics, it was 26 C at the time of the call.

An autopsy determined the cause of death was hyperthermia, consistent with the child being left in a vehicle and exposed to high temperatures for an extended period of time.
The child’s father, identified as Shaun Pennell, was charged with criminal negligence causing death and failing to provide the necessaries of life.
The accused did not appear in person at the Milton courthouse on Wednesday.
